Low fat diets were first introduced in the 1970's. Since then, we believe that we get fat because we eat a lot of fat. It seems quite logical: fat contains nine calories per gram, so if we eat less fat, we consume less calories, hence, we lose weight. But later research proved that dietary fat has nothing to do with your body fat. Experiments held on 50,000 women following low-fat diet showed no significant weight loss, as well as those who were on other types of diets: low-carb, low-calorie, etc. Why that happens? Dr. Ludwig, a researcher of the Journal of the American Medical Association, believes that the problem of obesity is much more complex than it seems on the first sight. It's not only about eating, and the future of obesity treatment is in individual approach to every person, research of their overall health, genetic peculiarities, and determining the real causes of obesity.

If a certain diet worked for one person, it doesn't mean that it will help to hundreds of their followers, if they simply copy-and-paste that approach. And blindly following extreme and intensive diets can actually cause more harm than good to both your health and your figure. Not only will they ruin your digestive system, they can also harm your immunity, cause fatigue, nervous disorders, sleep problems, skin diseases and other unwanted issues.

Fats, carbohydrates, proteins and other nutrients are essential for our organisms, and cutting them out from your diet won't help to your weight loss unless you know that this is the true reason to your weight problem.
